My random collection of football stuff - books, footballs, goalkeeper gloves

After Manchester United won their third European title in Moscow, 2008, I decided to start seriously collecting Adidas official replica footballs. You can see the Moscow 2008 Adidas Finale match ball in the largest box.

My collection actually started with the Adidas Tricolore which debuted in 1998 for the World Cup held at the Stade de France (which the French national team won thanks to 2 headers from Zizou and another goal from Emmanuel Petit against Brazil - being also the same final which saw Ronaldo not playing under somewhat mysterious circumstances).

To me, the Tricolore remains the best ever looking football ever released by Adidas - 1998 also saw the debut of the Adidas Predator Accelerator (which again, to me, remains the best looking Predator football boot released by Adidas). Adidas should re-issue these Predators with the relevant technological updates and perhaps also have a limited run edition with special packaging (perhaps with the most famous Adidas ambassadors during that time autographing the box, e.g., Becks, Zizou, del Piero). I have no doubt that they would sell them out like hot cakes. I would certainly be in line to buy the limited edition and a normal pair for a kickabout!

In the picture above, you will also notice a pair of Reusch Schmeichel goalkeeper gloves. Sadly, the Peter Schmeichel print did not survive...actually, the rubber palms and other rubber bits also did not survive (lesson learnt).

The books are self-explanatory and mainly centre on iconic Manchester United players and/or the Treble! :)

Stay tuned for more (frequent) updates!
